Northern & Arctic Surveillance: The RCAF monitors the North to protect sovereignty, using 440 (Transport) Squadron with CC-138 Twin Otter aircraft and regular patrols by CP-140 Aurora aircraft.

Aerospace Control: 22 Wing North Bay/CFB North Bay manages the Sector Air Operations Centre, using radar and sensor systems for aerospace surveillance and defense.
Maritime Surveillance: The CP-140 Aurora is used for maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), detecting foreign vessels, identifying pollution, and assisting in anti-submarine/anti-surface warfare.

Space Surveillance: The RCAF is developing capabilities to track, monitor, and characterize artificial objects in deep space.

Personnel: Operators of radars, sensors, and computer systems used for tracking, along with providing ground control instructions and weather reports.

Cooperation: The RCAF works with NORAD to share critical surveillance information, monitoring airspace 24/7 and facilitating the interception of unidentified aircraft.
