Thomas Paul Michael Cooper-Slipper was a decorated fighter pilot and test pilot during the Second World War, Mr. Cooper-Slipper continued test-flying aircraft after the war. His work on the Avro Jetliner helped push jet-powered flight into the mainstream of commercial travel.

He also worked on the development of the innovative Iroquois engine, intended to power the Avro Arrow. He later worked in aircraft sales and developed new markets for Canadian-built aircraft all over the world.
